Divorced dad shouldn’t have to choose between new wife and his kids

My wife is having a really hard time with my paying child support each month. She says it impedes our finances — even though she knew I would have to pay it before we got married. This has been a real point of contention with us. She does not like my kids at all and wants me to have their stepfather adopt them, for two main reasons: 1. Adoption will stop child support. 2. If something happens to their mother, the kids won’t have to come live here.

How do I hold my marriage together while still maintaining my responsibilities? Child support is over in about six years. I don’t want to be unhappy for that long.
